Is there a form of martial arts, yoga, etc. to improve mobility of the shoulders?
Recently I’ve been trying to find a form of martial arts that would help me relax and (more importantly) gain a little bit more of the usage of my right shoulder (a car accident several years ago put a hole in one of hte tendons and there’s fluid in teh joint, but I have been told that it is not severe enough for surgery to be a requirement).
At first I thought Tai Chi would probably be ideal, but the only place I could find that offers it in Pensacola, Florida wants an astonishing amount per hour.
Can someone please suggest something in place of tai chi? I would really appreciate it, seeing as I’ve lost 2 jobs I loved due to this problem.
Most martial arts will ask a lot friction on the joints.
So it will be not a bad idea to ask a couple of doctors first what the problem really is and find out what movements will stimulate the strength in that joint.
Try a chiropractor they will tell you how to do this.
don’t go for the most spectacular martial arts they will give you stress on the joints.
Yoga will be the best thing to choose in your case,
this because yoga will not put any pressure on the points you don’t want to have it on
Yoga is a balance between you and your body, so if it doesn’t feel good you just don’t do it.
Oh and you will find a lot of Tai Chi exercises and workshops on the internet these days.
You can do so many things just by visiting the right sites and consulting the right people, so it does not have to cost you more than one hour internet fora week of training.
Still do this in consult of your doctor, this because your problem is really seious and will not go better when you take the wrong advice.
Take care of it, it is a nasty shoulder you have/
Good luck
