Fifteen weeks and NO weight gain...normal?
So I'm exactly 15 weeks today and have not gained any weight with this pregnancy.
I am overweight, and did diet before becoming pregnant. (I'm 5'10" and about 200lbs, but carry my weight well...most people guess I weigh much less than I actually do.) Since finding out I stopped my diet but am trying to eat sensibly. My exercise routine is slim to non-existent (I bowl once per week, yoga once a week, and use the stairs only at work).
At my 12 week appointment the doctor said it was fine that I hadn't gained, but that I would start in the second trimester. (At my 11 week ultrasound I measured 11w4d).
This is my first pregnancy (no kidding, really? never would have guessed!) and it took a while to get here, so I'm nervous at every little thing. Just looking for some reassurance...
I didn't gain any weight until around 25 weeks along. Some people gain about 5 pounds in the first trimester, but a lot of people lose weight because of morning sickness. I didn't gain or lose I just stayed the same. Weight isn't really important as long as you are eating a balanced diet full of nutrients. As long as the baby is growing properly and measuring correctly your weight isn't really too important. My doctor said not to focus on the scale. I'm 34 weeks along and have only gained 12-13 pounds.
